纽约多少地铁?
New York City has 460 subway stations. But there are only about 275 stops on the New York City Subway system proper, with most of the rest being in other cities' systems where we have transfers to or from (mostly via a free transfer between the two). And then there is the PATH train which goes under the Hudson and connects Manhattan to Jersey City, Newark and Hoboken and also has its own separate station system (although it can add up if you end up taking both subway and path trains to get around).
And that doesn't even include all the bus routes. I think buses were something like 310 at last count but remember that many of those may be one-off limited time specials – they change pretty frequently so I wouldn't hold that number as absolute truth as of right now.
And just to make things more fun, there are 600+ street vendors who do business along the streets in Manhattan alone(虽然我没数过到底有多少卖报纸的……). In total, New York probably has close to a thousand different ways for passengers to travel by mass transit. That's about ten times as many options as Beijing, although in general New York's subways are less jam-packed than Beijing's.
The main reason why these other systems aren't counted toward total mileage is because most of them don't go into Manhattan(当然,如果算进去的话那数据就没法看了,我其实挺希望把纽约所有公共交通都算成地铁的……那样才公平嘛!). The PATH does go downtown but it takes its own money and has its own ticket windows, etc. and the ferry service crosses the river into Brooklyn and Queens but again, it's not part of the same system. So technically, you could walk across a bridge into New Jersey and take a train back to Manhattan and never set foot in New York State and still reach any point in the five boroughs.
In fact, I believe this was the case when the city introduced its new, flat fare system a few years back. You could ride anywhere in the subways/PATH without having to pay extra as long as your initial trip was within New York City——as long as you remained in the MTA zone. This meant people didn't need to buy expensive single rides, they could get whatever amount of travel they needed in a day with a
